1 pkg. (2 cups) organic dry split peas OR dry organic lentils
4 to 5 cups of organic chicken broth (Be sure to check the ingredients to make sure it does not contain yeast or sugar. Some do. Organic does not mean that it will contain all safe ingredients for you.)
3 stalks of celery
1/2 a large onion
1/2 of a red pepper
salt and pepper
Put celery, onion, red pepper and carrots in a food processor until it is in tiny bits. Add to broth and peas. Add garlic powder and salt and pepper (to taste).
I put all ingredients into a crock pot before I go to bed, on the lowest heat. In the morning, if it is too thick, add more broth.
Soup will be ready for noon lunch.
Leftover soup will become very thick in the frig. When you heat up a serving, add unsweetened coconut milk and stir to thickness desired. Heat on the stove or in the microwave.
